We sat down with Treasure to discuss her trials and tribulations, mantras, strong points, and what it means to be a “smart girl” to her.
What has life taught you?
Life has taught me that you can try to plan as much as you want or as much as you can but if it’s not meant for you then it will not be for you. Life has taught me in the back of my head keep a plan B but to also live in the moment go with the flow and see where life takes you. It’s also taught me that you can have what you want and get to where you want to go, it just takes faith, hard work, and determination.
So, you’ve recently graduated from college and you’re about to embark in the real world now. What would be your advice to young girls that might be struggling right now, whether it be financially, academically, or even both?
I would tell them that its beauty in the struggle and never be afraid to seek help. College will be one of the only times where you will have a plethora of free resources. Use those resources. You’re not alone, other people are struggling just like you and just know that this struggle is not forever. But if you continue to complain instead of trying to find a solution, you’ll never get anywhere. Be proactive.
What do you do to overcome some of life’s obstacles?
I’m not perfect. I’ve run into a lot of different issues in life. I’ve cried, I’ve felt like giving up… and it’s okay. It’s okay to feel down, it’s okay to be down, just don’t stay down. Cry as much as you need to but wipe those tears. Pick yourself back up and keep going because at the end of the day you’ll be thankful that you did.
What makes a ‘Smart Girl’ to you?
A smart girl makes mistakes. A smart girl learns from her mistakes and a smart girl grows from her mistakes. Being smart doesn’t mean that you are perfect it doesn’t mean that you are a mathematician or extremely good in science. It doesn’t mean that you’re an A+ student in writing it just means that you are seeking knowledge and willing to learn, and grow. A smart girl never gives up a peruses past her obstacles because she knows that the best is yet to come.
