Smart Girl Kim Russell is a Michigan native originally from Rochester, Michigan.
Russell currently still resides in Rochester, Michigan and is a career woman
We sat down with Kim to discuss some her trial and tribulations, mantras, strong points, and what it means to be a “smart girl” to her.
What has life taught you?
Life has taught me that you have to show up. I believe that everyone has a gift that God requires an action to be taken with that gift. What we sow is what we reap, it takes time for seeds to grow, it doesn’t just happen overnight. It is important for us to show up and spread our seeds every day.
What would your advice be to young girls that might be struggling right now, whether it be financially, academically, or even both?
I think whenever we settle, we need to look at the universe that life is for us and that those are lessons for us to learn. Embrace the struggle and also, take a step to get out of a financial situation, relationship, whatever that might be take a step forward to, even If it’s a baby step for an action. It is on you to take that required action to move forward.
What do you do to overcome some of life’s obstacles?
There is all kinds of obstacles in life and I look at them as a hurdle in a running race. You can not just look where you’re at you have to look into the future. I really try to be intentional about self development and having good habits because it can really help me just focus on today. I only have today.
What makes a ‘Smart Girl’ to you?
A smart girl protects her integrity. A smart girl tells the truth. A smart girl does a self- evaluation every day. And a smart girl shows up. She shows up to the field or she shows up to whatever the obstacle is. She shows up and does the action.
Russell will also be hosting her very own Ted Talk coming up where she talks on what we reap is generally what we sow.
