Smart Girl Tierra is a Michigan native originally from West Bloomfield, Michigan.
Tierra currently resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan and attended West Bloomfield High School where she excelled in things such as symphony orchestra and varsity cheer leading. After graduating in 2015, Tierra went on to Central Michigan University where she studied broadcast journalism. After being at Central for a year and a half, Tierra transferred to Michigan State University in the spring of 2017 where she now continues her studies in broadcast.
Her goal in life is to be an entertainment broadcaster, reporter, and host for E! News someday where she dreams of hosting red carpets, but hopes not to stop there. She also thrives of becoming an entertainment lawyer soon after.
We sat down with Tierra to discuss some of her mantras, hardships, and ultimately what she think it means to be a “smart girl”.
Tell me your life’s story?
My life story… Well its really simple, I was born July 31st, 1997. I’m a Leo woman, I was born in Detroit, Michigan and lived in Southfield for a little then moved to West Bloomfield where I was literally raised my entire life. I went to elementary school at Gretchko and Scotch located in West Bloomfield. Soon after I went to Abbott Middle School then when to West Bloomfield High School. Graduated, went to Central Michigan then transferred to MSU where I’m at now and haven’t looked back ever since. I also have a mom, dad, and two brothers. One older and one younger.
What are your career aspirations?
My career aspirations include, hosting E! News someday and doing any and everything that involved entertainment whether it be reporting or hosting.
What do you do to overcome some of life’s obstacles?
I pray and I meditate and ultimately just take time to myself to get my head right again.
What is something fun to know about you?
I have this thing called synesthesia. So, like I associate colors to letters and numbers. The brain is a very odd object.
What makes a ‘Smart Girl’ to you?
Someone who isn’t afraid to stick up for what they believe in and doesn’t follow the crowd.
Tierra will be graduating from Michigan State University this Spring and will be graduating with a bachelors in Journalism with a concentration in electronic news and a minor in broadcasting. She is excited yet nervous to see what they future holds for her.
